Chapter One

-By Solmyr

In the beginning lay a dormant power, one that can never be harnessed to its full potential.  Yet, all that attempted to test it, failed, and only a few tried.

I came into the world of Olmran as a small child.  Testing my limits, I quickly came to understand it was futile for me to try.  Soon after, I took my own life and in short, I thought it was the end…

In a strange, dark place, I awake.  I think it is a tomb of some sort, but who would bury me?  I have neither family nor friends, and I was not here when I plunged that friendly dagger into my heart.  It is cold, but it is not all that bad.  I think to myself, “This must be what happens after you die.”

As I pick myself up, something catches my eye.  In the low torchlight, I can see a small bronze plaque on the wall, as well as a sign that seems to be made of a dark material.  In the dim light, I read the plaque closely.  It says it is a guild of some sort, but I cannot find any mention of a name.  Nearby, there is also a murky amassing of energy; Words cannot begin to describe such an eerie object.  I move closer and examine the swirling dark entity.  Staring at it gives me a sense of absolute darkness, but that is not all.  I feel relieved and oddly comforted that I awoke in this place.  Slowly, words begin to form in the dark vortex shaped mass.  It reads, “The Fallen Sect.”

I have heard of them before... it is some kind of cult.  It is said that only the ones with good enough will power and determination can last.  Only two names come to mind: Dreamweaver and Messiah.  Dreamweaver is the leader of the Fallen Sect.  Although he seldom speaks, he is a very good leader.  He is a silent shadow, friendly if you do not cross his path, but destroys if he needs to.  Messiah on the other hand, is just a faithful follower.  He has the determination and will power, but lacks judgment.  Messiah is best to be a follower.

Thinking about the Fallen Sect, I fail to remember I do not have any pants on.  Suddenly, something taps me on the shoulder.  I slowly spin around - hoping it is not death to bring me somewhere else; I rather like this new home.  Scratching my head, I see it is an elf with pale skin, wearing black robes, and a rather friendly look in his eyes.  He extends his arm to give me some leggings.  Embarrassed, I quickly put them on.  Then he says, "Looks good on you my friend.  Hi, I am Messiah of the Fallen Sect.  Glad to meet you.  And you are...?"

I thought about it for a moment...  I could not think of a name to replace my old name because I despised it.  The name Soulblighter was sickening to me, and I wanted to forget my past.  A thought came to mind of adding 2 words together... maybe that will sound good.  I reply back, "Janusdescendant."

Messiah says, "It is a long name...  I suppose it is unique."

Messiah and I sit down and begin to talk.  He tells me of how he found my body with a dagger stuck into my heart and dragged me to his guildhall.  He performed a resurrection and brought me back to life, but I was still unconscious.  He did not want me to be with out pants, so he went to look for a pair.

Standing up, I say thank you so I can be on my way.  But I then remember that I have nowhere to go.  It strikes me suddenly that I am here, which is a suitable place as it is.  I turn around and ask Messiah if I can join the guild.

A look of confusion flashes over Messiah’s face and he says, "What’s wrong?  I thought you had to go?"

I tell the pale elf that I have forgotten where I can go, and since I was here, maybe I can stay.  Messiah smiles and says I can stay and join if I like.  The Fallen Sect member then ushers me over to the swirling dark entity.  He tells me I am to pledge my soul and loyalty to the guild.  Gazing into the vortex, I did as I was told.

Nothing happened.

Turning around to Messiah, I shrug my shoulders.  Then, a sudden force from behind me begins to tug at my insides.  I scream aloud as I feel my body ripping into pieces.  The pain is unbearable.  The force lifts me into the air as it gives me what seem to be at least 10 gashes on each arm.  Falling, I collapse on the hard stone floor as something soft falls on top of me.  My body still weak, I force myself to stand and pick up what had fallen on me.  I examine it closely and find it to be a soft velvet hood.

Messiah then says, "It is the guild hood, wear it proudly."

I realize I have just joined the Fallen Sect.
